"Cannot execute step because the prior workflow step is not completed"

In Special Planning, such as people planning, the planning period can vary from 1 to 120. Say for example, in the transformation rule, I map period 1 - 12 with 2022M1 to 2022M12, I would like to map period 13 with 2023M1. However, when I load data, it gives me an error of "Cannot execute step because the prior workflow step is not completed". I would like to know whether I can load data to multiple years without workflow of prior year completed. Thank you

In regular OneStream, loading in multiple years is typically dependent on the settings of the Scenario you're loading into. Check the Workflow section of the Scenario, which should have the Workflow Tracking Frequency set to Range and a Workflow End Time that includes 2023M1. See an example below of a Scenario which is loading 5 years:

Note you might have to Reset the Scenario if you've already started the workflow.

Hi Jack, actually I have a follow-up question. If I set up the workflow time as say "2015", I would not be able to switch workflow time in the workflow. This means that every year, I may need to create a new scenario such as 2016, 2017, etc. Is there any ways to avoid this? Thank you

Not as far as I know. You can get clever with creating new scenarios though - it could be done automatically through a rule.
