IC Setup - Time Constrained or Not

We just went live with our IC setup (ie providing the plug account - We had already required a valid partner prior to adding the plug). Works GREAT! The issue/question we have now found ourselves in is that these feature is not time constrained like formula’s or other features. We decided that we needed to split a statistical volume value into two groups and wanted to go back in to a prior year to get year over year comparisons. At this point we realized that once we make any change to an Entity, when we re-consolidate, IC kicks in and hoses up our Financials. Outside of removing all plug accounts, making change, consolidating and adding the plug accounts back, we can’t update our prior period Statistical accounts. Anybody know of a work around or is this going to be fixed in the future similar to how formalus are handled.

Hi Clarke, not sure how much this will help as this will require a retransform.

Steps:

1) Setup a plug account which will be sitting parallel to the Top Parent in entity structure e.g. 'DummyICP'

2) Setup a transformation rule time stamped and should work till you do not want IC elimination to kick in, and say that all IC accounts irrespective of what partner is flowing in from source should be assigned / mapped to 'DummyICP'

3) Retransform this data

4) Reconsolidate

5) Since Dummy IC entity is setup outside the main entity structure hence nothing will eliminated

Still , not sure how much this will help here..

I think I understand.  Right now we have a IC_Top Entity that sits right under our Top Parent.  So if a partner is not provided, it defaults to this value and elim's at top entity.  If we move or create a new one outside of the structure, first common parent will never happen and no elim will take place.  In the Transformation rule I assume you are saying add the T# dim to the rule.  One rule for Time < date and one for Time > date.  This would in effect turn on the Elim when we want it to.  Excellent Idea.  Will give it a try.  Will see how that looks in the Transformation rules, never added in Time.  Thanks for the suggestion.
