Form Input disappeared

Hello,

I have this strange situation where information was entered with form input and for 1 of the entities the data disappeared on several accounts. This is in a scenario type1 scenario.

When information is entered again the old values can be found with Audit history for Forms from the drilldown.

Any idea how this can happen, I would expect it only after a reset scenario, but that would remove also data for other entities, could also be by removing the entries, but there are several different forms, so that seems unlikely.

kind regards

Ben

  • Hello Henning, Thanks a lot for looking into it. I don't think we have an Excel Input sheet available for this.

See below the screenshot, on Nov 5th the old amount was not visible and the the new input was done.

Users can be very creative sometimes 😉

But the screenshot does rule out input from Excel as this would be shown in the audit.

What is not shown in the audit is if a rule clears / overrides the data. You are saying that only some of the data is cleared in the form and not all data in the affected data unit? If so, that seems to rule out a clear data DM step as well - leaving only rules.

My strong guess is that there is a rule somewhere in the system that pushes no data on to those affected cells. Now to the fun part, to pin down when that happens exactly (every time a consolidation is run? After a custom calc? A DM step? ...?). As this seems entity specific, maybe there is a special rule run only on that entity, or only that entity enters data in the intersections which would explain why other entities do not experience the same.

Thanks Henning, that's what I was thinking. But not sure what kind of command would push No data. We used clearcalculated data in several rules, but that doesn't clear the form input, only different types of calculated data. Are there specific commands that would do this? I'll go through the rules in place and communicate if I find it.

Hi, in my experience, in such a situation, the most likely source is that some user uses an Excel input sheet that overrides such data on O#Forms.

What does the audit history for forms you mention show you exactly? Maybe you can share a screenshot (with anonymized / blurred data and users)?
