Back button removed?

Recently we upgraded to 8.5 and I found the back/forward buttons missing from the top left corner of the screen. We jumped a few versions so not sure when this was removed. Can anyone tell me when this happened? I cannot find anything in the release notes. I have some dashboards built to use this back button so I will have to update them.
