Fiction! Formula for Calculation Drill Down is only invoked when a user selects the Drill Down menu option, in order to determine which records should be displayed. It has no role in consolidation.

Fiction - Calculation for drill-down is ad-hoc (or on-demand?) and does not process during a Consolidation event. It's a user action and not a system action and therefore does not impact performance.
