If you are referring to the Auto Translation Currencies in the Entity dimension, then, yes that property can affect performance. Translation to additional currencies mean additional Translation rows need to be computed, and more rows need to be stored in the cube, both of which can affect Consolidation times, and secondarily affect reporting performance. With small amounts of data, it might be immaterial. With larger amounts of data, I guess you need to determine if the business need justifies the cost.

Yes, each additional currency on each entity is another additional data unit with the corresponding possible impact on performance.
If you have more than just a handful, rather do it on-demand if process allows. Or as a process scheduled in the background to not impact performance of standard consolidations.
