Fact!

a consolidated Entity will generate a substantial number of database records, as well as running more calculations. The option should be set to True only where necessary for reporting purposes.

Changing the number of entities that consolidate will impact performance -  I say Fact

Fact - There is an impact if you turn off consolidation on a Parent Entity.
