How to convert a raw Excel file into multiple upload-ready OneStream journals. (3 quick steps)
Use case: You generated several journal lines in Excel. You saved it as a CSV file, and the upload to OneStream failed. Here’s how to clean it up and get it posted. 1) Paste your raw lines into Excel: Paste your raw journal lines into column A as above. Go to Data → Text to Columns → Delimited → Comma → Finish. You should now see the first column as H and the next two as D, D, with each field in its column. 2) Clean the values (common blockers) ConsName must be a valid Consolidation member in your app (e.g., Entity or Local). Leave ParentName blank unless you’re 100% sure of the direct parent. Don’t type literal None unless it’s a real member; leave IC/UD blank or use your member when required. Make sure Scenario → Cube mapping matches your CubeName. If JournalBalanceType=Balanced, totals of Debits = Credits per journal. 2) Save as CSV (UTF-8) Keep only the upload rows on the active sheet (no notes above/beside them). File → Save As → CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (.csv). Accept “only the active sheet will be saved.” 3) Import & post in OneStream OnePlace → Journals → Import (or your Workflow step). Choose File Type = CSV, select your file, and Import. Open the journal, Validate/Balance, then Post. Run Consolidation and verify in a Cube View. Hope this helps some people within the OneStream Universe 😊.Journal creation through Excel Addin
Hi everyone, I need to create a few journal templates so that they can be filled up in Excel and subsequently loaded into Onestream. I found online screenshots of some journal templates in Excel like the following one: but it's not clear to me how can I create it. Is there a way to export in Excel the already precompiled structure of a journal from Onestream? or do I need to create it manually in Excel? Any suggestion would help!Solved152Views0likes5CommentsMake document attachment required on journal
Hi Everyone, Our business team would like to make it mandatory to attach a document to every journal entry. I know this can be done via a confirmation rule. However, one of our business partners googled this and AI returned the information in the screenshot below so they are questioning why we can't enable the setting referenced. We can't find this in any of the OneStream documentation nor see it when creating new workflow forms or journal templates. Is anyone familiar with this setting?68Views0likes3CommentsIncluding Journal Entries from Different Origin Member in Account Reconciliation Discovery
Hi Community, I’m working on an Account Reconciliation solution where I need to ensure posted journal entries balances are also included in the Account Reconciliation discovery process. Currently, by design the Discovery process only pulls trial balance information already imported and validated in the Stage. Therefore, I wanted to check if there’s a recommended, or best practice approach, to accomplish this requirement. Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your help!29Views0likes0CommentsAutomating Email Notifications for Journal Submissions
Our team submits topside entries in OneStream using the Adj channel. Upon a journal reaching "Submitted" status, I want our application to send an email notification to the approver that the journal is ready for review. We already have email notifications up and running for our application. I would like to have the email distributed based on a security group we have, CorpAdjApprover. Any ideas on how I can set this up? Would it go through an Event Handler business rule? Thanks in advance.Error Saving Journal: Entity Member Filter property for journal is inconsistent with template settng
Hey everyone, My first post, so I hope I'm in the right place. While trying to upload an Excel JE Temp to a WF, the following error appears. I can confirm that the entity member filter is consistent for both the OS Temp and the excel Temp. Also, the same Temp has been used to load data in one of the previous months, with no error. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. -Amrit G.146Views0likes1CommentJournal Threshold for Approval
Hello, Is there a way to allow a group of users to quick post journals under a certain threshold amount, but if higher than the threshold the journal needs approval? I used a rule previously that will reject the journal if the user attempts to quick post above a certain amount, but then I can't figure out how the next step would be for X group to go in and approve it for them? Thanks!260Views0likes0Comments
