Adding a Child to a Base Member

Hello All, 

I need some Quick help . is it possible to create a Child under a Base member that has a value. for example in my UD2 dimension i have Book A1 it is the Base member and it has data in it. If i try to create a Child under this A1 , Child A1_C. i am losing view of the Data . Is it a Cube View issue i need to resolve . or its not possible to create a child under a base member that already has values in it ?

    A base member will lose it's data when you create a child under it. There is a way to handle this using xtensibility, but that is a much larger exercise than adding a new member. A quick solution would be to add a new parent, perhaps called A1_Total, then make A1 and A1_C both children of that.
