Dimension Library access

Hi,

I am in the process of testing security for applications.

I have view dimension library access, I do not have manage meta data access. I have added security groups to access and maintenance groups for which i only have access to "Access group".

I cannot edit any members, which is correct based on my security, but i am trying to understand the reason why the meta data is not greyed out?

It appears as normal, and i can edit, but when i try save the changes, it says i do not have access. Which is great, it means it works. I was just expecting it to be greyed out like for example cube views.

Just curious as to why meta data isnt greyed out as well?

Would appreciate any feedback

  • It's due to how the dimension library is presented when using extensibility. If all members were grey throughout the hierarchy, the view only users wouldn't be able to distinguish the dimension in which the member lives.
