SIC not available in 9.1

Hi all,

We've installed a self-hosted 9.1 OS server, and now when trying to configure the SIC to connect to our datalake, I can't find the "Smart Integration Connector" in the Admin tab within OS Desktop.

I already checked the version of all software an it's all 9.1.0.

I could configure the Local connection to the Data Lake properly, but can't figure out what's missing to make it show as usually in OS admin tab.

Anything I'm missing?

Thank you!

If memory serves me correctly, SIC is only intended to connect to OS hosted cloud instances.  The SIC establishes an outbound connection to a specific OS relay server/service.

If you installed OS on servers behind your firewall, you should not need SIC.  If you installed OS in the cloud somewhere, then you can create a VPN tunnel from your cloud instance into your local network and whatever drivers you like on your OS servers.  SIC was really to help get OS Cloud Services out of the business of helping standup/support VPN and custom drivers on behalf of their customers.

Hi rhankey thanks for your answer.

The issue is that we're preparing a solution to be deployed within Solution exchange and it depends on a connection to a system clients have. The connector br's won't work with SIC if I develop it using a direct connection, right?
Do you have any tips on how to validate this when creating the br's?

I am not sure I understand clearly enough what you are trying to do.  A connector typically references a pre-defined connection.  The connection defines the details of how to get to the source system, such as passing through the SIC or not.  The connector shouldn't need to know anything about whether there is an SIC or not, unless it needs to be invoking remote logic or drivers you have placed over on the SIC.  Unless you are doing something peculiar, I shouldn't think you need remote logic or drivers to access a datalake.  Or put differently, so long there have been no firewalls preventing access, I've not needed SIC to access a datalake from OS.
