MergeAndCenterColumnHeaders in Cube Views

Hi,
Anyone on Version 8 who's actually tried to use this 'enhancement' feature in Cube Views?  We requested this on Ideastream a long time ago with a lot of support.

I can see this command is now available in the header format dialog; however, it would appear that the only thing it does is change the header from left justified to center view.  There does not seem to be a way to actually 'merge' column headers, despite the fact that it's called "MergeAndCenter".

Even the system documentation appears to confirm this behavior.

Someone please tell me I'm missing something here and it actually is possible to merge column headers, because we really really wanted this feature.

Thanks

  • We've tried the MergeAndCenter enhancement with mixed results. The cube view tested includes two dimensions in the column with Revenue in the Level 1 filter and three UD8 members in the Level 2 filter. I would expect the results to merge and center Revenue over the three UD8 members.

    • Data Explorer view - No merge and center - Revenue is left justified over just the first UD8 member
    • Report view - Merge and center works - Revenue is merged and centered over the three UD8 members
    • Excel view - No merge and center - Revenue is repeated but centered in the cells over the three UD8 members

Hm... thanks for confirming my suspicions.  Unfortunately we had been asking for this feature specifically for reporting out of Excel (i.e. cube view exports and exports as books out to Excel).  Sadly this does nothing for those clients trying to convince their users that they don't need to use XF functions instead to get nice report outputs....

Really appreciate you testing this out as well.

Did this one work for you? We have 8.2 but I struggled to make it works

Hi - well if what you were expecting was the ability to have a header row that allowed you to create a header that extended across multiple columns, then No it definitely does not work unfortunately. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Yeah, just was playing to center Time over the View members, but I see. Thanks for confirming!
