What is the Corporate Certification Management function

Was going through our app to lock/certify some workflows and noticed that there seems to be a function that I have never noticed before, there is a Corporate Certification Management menu item with two sub items, Unlock/uncertify ancestors and Certify/lock ancestors.  Does anyone know what this does, it's the first time I have noticed it.

    Exactly what it says on the tin... From the Design guide: "Corporate Certification Management: This allows a user to unlock and uncertify ancestors, or lock and certify descendants." Obviously we are talking about ancestor and descendants in terms of Workflow Profiles.
