OneStream Upgrade with Minimal Downtime

OneStream 7.4.1 (On-Prem)

Looking to upgrade to 7.4.2.

Has anyone developed a strategy to upgrade OneStream with minimal downtime?  Uninstalling and reinstalling the application takes time, and I would like to avoid as much downtime as possible.

I am using 1 server for everything.

I was thinking I could install 7.4.2 in another folder, but I believe the install would attempt to create the same IIS app pools that already exist.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi i'm looking for the step-by-step guide to upgrade the OneStream (On-Prem) environment. Our current version is 7.0.1.13612 and we want to upgrade it to the latest version. Can anyone please help?

    Hi RayKelly

I like your thinking here! However, I did many upgrades On-Prem and never came up with a specific strategy for that. I would disagree with you when you say it takes time to uninstall and reinstall. It is pretty fast!
The only place I would always spend extract time it on the backup of files/folders and SQL DB. For sure, you could skip those steps, but when you think about it, it has no impact on your downtime. It is actually even better to do this, just in case... and then you would reduce downtime if bad things happen.
I would recommend that you stick to the upgrade guide and I am sure you can do the upgrade in less than one hour (depending of the amount of DB upgrade that needs to be done!!) By experience, for me it is the DB upgrade that takes the most time. You could have a robot doing the job for you, but I think other people have scripts for that.... but I never saw it. If someone at OS could share that, that would be nice!
    Cheers
Please give a kuddo if it helps!
