Workflow for Consolidation and Planning

Hello Everyone,

We are setting up our Consolidation and Planning application.

In Consolidation we would like to set up workflow by entity (legal entity) to support consolidation.

In Planning application, we would like to set up workflow by Business Unit to support planning activities by BUSINESS Unit Owner.

any thoughts on how we can set up workflow as described above?

Assuming your BUs are mapped in UD1, you can achieve that with Channels.

Not sure how to use channels. Could you please elaborate?

Look up Workflow Channels in the documentation. Basically you can have workflows that restrict loading not just by Entity (which is the default), but also by the combination of Account and UD1 members. Setting it up can be tricky, so I'd suggest doing it with an experienced consultant.

This said, generally speaking, it's not absolutely necessary that the Entity dimension should always map precisely to your legal entity structure. If you find that in some cubes you'd rather aggregate by some other structure, just create a different Entity dimension and use that instead.
