Setting up default value in the combo box for Cube View

Hi Everyone,

We recently received a request from the client to set up a default value in the combo box for the cube view. The cells are set with type Annotations and has a dropdown of options to be selected. The client wants to default the dropdown as PctBudget until and unless it is changed.

Is there a configurable setting that can be used to achieve that? I used the default value/members under parameters but it didn't help the cause.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, the parameter displays the string saved on the annotation member by default. That is why setting the default value on the parameter itself does not work. That makes sense as displaying a different value or string in a cube view than the one being stored on the Annotation member would be misleading.

So, if someone wants those annotation cells to be set to something like a "default" setting, one has to populate the Annotation member in advance, in this case with "PctBudget".

On that, there are some things to consider. How many members that require a Phasing Types are there? Just a dozen? In which case I do not mind pre-populating those e.g. by using a business rule. Are there many? Are those time and scenario dependent? What is the general process about setting, using and changing them? Depending on those considerations, one has to weigh the different items against each other and come up with a good solution.
