Question (cont)

Is this expected and what should clients do when they want to do some processes weekly and other processes monthly?

Answer

  • It is correct that each application has a time single time dimension.
  • This can be customized to include additional periods or include weeks.
  • This need to be defined prior to building the application.
  • Time profiles are created within the application and allow you to alter the descriptions of the time members by cube.
    • For example, if you needed different fiscal years in a single application, different time profiles could be created and assigned to different cubes.
  • The “Input Frequency” Scenario setting controls how data is stored for that scenario.
    • Utilizing this setting allows a client to combine monthly, weekly, yearly and quarterly reporting processes in the same application.
    • The data is stored against the relevant time member based on this setting on the scenario
      • Example:  In a monthly scenario, data will be stored against M1, M2 etc.
  • Thus, there is not a need to have multiple applications when some processes require monthly data and others require weekly data.
